Box Score Dayton, Ohio -- Wright State completed a
three-game sweep of the Youngstown State baseball team with an 8-2
victory over the Penguins on Saturday afternoon at Nischwitz
Stadium.
The Penguins led 1-0 after a run in the top of the second and
trailed just 5-2 after scoring in the seventh. Wright State scored
the final three runs of the game all with two outs.
David Saluga went a career-best 3-for-4 with two runs scored,
and Drew Dosch had two hits and two RBIs.
In the first weekend start of his career, YSU freshman Russ
Harless kept the Penguins in the game, allowing five runs on eight
hits in six innings. The right-hander attacked the strike zone
throughout the game and posted struck out a career-high seven while
walking just one.
Taylor Braun allowed one run on seven hits in six innings for
Wright State.
The Penguins scored first in the second inning when Dosch
singled in Saluga. The Penguins had four hits and a walk in the
frame, but a big pickoff of Weston Weiss at third base hindered a
chance for a big inning.
Garrett Gray hit a two-run homer for Wright State in the bottom
of the second to put the Raiders up 2-1, and they added two runs in
the fifth and another in the sixth to go up 5-1.
Saluga hit a leadoff double and scored on Dosch's sacrifice fly
in the seventh, and the Raiders added insurance with two runs in
the bottom of the seventh and one in the eighth.
Youngstown State will play five games in six days next week,
starting with a home contest against Kent State on Tuesday at 3
p.m.
