Soccer's Season Ends With 1-0 Overtime Loss to Wright State

The Youngstown State soccer team turned in the best year in program history, but that season has come to an end after a 1-0 overtime loss to Wright State in the first round of the Horizon League Tournament on Tuesday evening at Stambaugh Stadium.
The Penguins finish the season with an 8-9 overall record while the Raiders improve to 8-4-6 and will play second-seeded Detroit in the semifinals on Friday.
After two scoreless halves, Wright State's Emilie Fillion scored her sixth goal of the season just 2:55 into the extra period to give the Raiders the 1-0 victory.
YSU goalkeeper Jackie Podolsky made a tremendous diving save on a hard-lined shot by Wright State's Adrianna Guerrero, but the ball rebounded directly to Fillion who scored easily to end the game.
Podolsky turned in a gutsy performance in the net with six saves, including a diving near-post save late in the second half.
First-Team All-Horizon League pick sophomore Jade Flory posted a team-high three shots and had one of YSU's three shots on goal.
The Raiders outshot the Penguins, 16-9, and had a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
