Canfield, Ohio -- Loyola pitcher Brittany Gardner pitched two complete games and stifled the Penguins' offense and the Youngstown State softball team dropped a pair of Horizon League games to Loyola, 4-2, and 10-1, on Saturday afternoon at McCune Park.

The Guins fall to 15-9 overall and 0-2 in the Horizon League while the Ramblers improve to 10-9 overall and 2-0 in the league.

In the opener, Gardner had a no-hitter for 5.2 innings before senior Kristina Rendle drilled a double to deep center field to break up the no-hit bid in the bottom of the sixth inning. Junior Jordan Ingalls doubled home Rendle to bring the Guins within 4-1, and sophomore Vicky Rumph singled in Ingalls to cut the deficit in half, 4-2.

YSU's Casey Crozier allowed just five hits, struck out six and gave up just two runs in a hard-luck loss.

Loyola jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning but two of those runs were unearned. The Ramblers added another run in the top of the sixth to take a 4-0 lead.

In the nightcap, the Ramblers scored five runs in the second and five more in the fourth to take a 10-0 lead over the Guins.

Gardner, who pitched three no-hit innings in game two, was aided by a solo home run by Jacqueline Grim, a three-run homer by Lauren Zaworski and a solo shot by Brooke Andresen in the second frame.

YSU freshman Samantha Snodgrass hit her first career home run in the bottom of the fifth inning for the Guins' lone run off of Garnder.

The Guins and Ramblers will play a single-game Sunday, March 27, at Noon at McCune Park
