Late Goal Lifts Detroit Past Soccer, 1-0

Youngstown, Ohio -- The Youngstown State women's soccer team played Detroit evenly for 74 minutes before a goal with with just over 15 minutes left lifted the Titans to a 1-0 victory on Wednesday afternoon at Stambaugh Stadium.
The Guins fall to 3-7-2 overall and 0-2-1 in the Horizon League while the Titans improve to 10-4-1 overall and 3-1 in the league.
Detroit's Alison Suschak scored her third goal of the season from an assist from twin sister Alexander at the 74:32 mark for the match's only goal.
The Guins nearly scored just 16 seconds into the match but sophomore Heather Coonfare's shot sailed just wide of the net.
YSU had four shots on goal - compared to Detroit's two - but Titans' goalkeeper Nora Abolins saved all four attempts.
The Guins return to action at Milwaukee, Sunday, Oct. 9, at 2 p.m.
