Guins Score Four Ninth-Inning Runs to Beat Saint Joseph's, 9-5

Camden, N.J. -- The Youngstown State baseball team scored four runs in the top of the ninth and benefited from four Saint Joseph's errors in a 9-5 victory on Saturday at Campbell's Field.
The Penguins led 5-1 through six innings, and they answered SJU's four-run eighth with four runs in the top of the ninth to win for the fifth time in six games.
Jonathan Crist went 3-for-3 and scored the eventual winning run in the ninth, and Jacke Healey and Greg Dissinger had two hits apiece.
YSU starter Phil Klein had arguably his best outing of the season, but he had to throw 115 pitches to get through 5.2 innings. He allowed one run on four hits and two walks while striking out 10.
The Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the third when Shane Lynch hit an inside-the-park home run to right center. Armani Johnson and Eric Marzec collided on the play and were forced to leave the game.
The Penguins took a 4-1 lead with four runs on four hits and an error in the fifth, and they added another run in the sixth to go ahead 5-1. Crist doubled in Zac McFarland to tie the score with one out in the fifth, and a throwing error allowed three more runs to score. Healey drove in Neil Schroth, and Anthony Porter doubled in Healey. McFarland reached on an error in the sixth, and Dissinger singled him home.
David Valesente hit a three-run home run to highlight the Hawks' four-run eighth as Saint Joseph's tied the score at 5-5. In the ninth, Crist scored when Healey reached on an error with the bases loaded, and the Penguins went on to score three more times.
Trent Wood earned the win for YSU, allowing one hit while retiring two batters in the eighth. Kevin McCulloh retired the Hawks in order in the ninth.
Adam Rivera allowed four runs, one of which was earned, on four hits in 3.1 innings of relief to suffer the loss for Saint Joseph's.
The Penguins will wrap up their tour of Philadelphia schools against Villanova on Sunday at 12:15 p.m.
