Box Score Nashville, Tenn. -- Jacke Healey's two-run home run provided the
Youngstown State baseball team with its only runs of the game as
the Penguins fell 8-2 at Lipscomb on Wednesday.
The Penguins split the two-game series with the Bisons, having
come from behind to win on Tuesday, 9-8.
Eric Marzec added three hits for YSU, and Joe Iacobucci reached
in all four of his plate appearances. Corey Vukovic, Alex Frey and
Bill Turosky combined to hold the Bisons without an earned run for
the final four innings.
Tyler Wilson had three hits and scored three times for Lipscomb.
Bisons head coach Jeff Forehand earned his 300th career
victory.
LIpscomb did not trail in the contest after going ahead 2-0 in
the first when Zach Messer drove in two runs on a single off
starter Cody Dearth. Healey's two-run bomb with two outs in the
third tied the score briefly, but the Bisons regained the lead with
two runs on two hits and an error in the bottom half.
The Bisons then scored three times in the fourth and once in the
sixth. Three of their eight runs were unearned as YSU committed
four errors. The Penguins also stranded 13 runners.
Dearth took his second loss of the season, allowing five runs,
four of which were earned, on five hits in three innings. Alex Ross
earned his first win for Lipscomb as he did not allow a run in 4.2
innings of relief.
The Penguins will begin a three-game series with Walsh
University on Friday at V.A. Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe,
Ohio.
