Penguins Use All-Around Performance to Defeat Lock Haven, 35-3

Youngstown State used a steady offense attack and a staunch defensive effort to earn a 35-3 victory over Division II Lock Haven on Saturday afternoon at Stambaugh Stadium.
The Penguins (3-1) had 425 yards of total offense against the Bald Eagles while Lock Haven finished with 106 yards.
Lock Haven scored the first points of the contest on a 35-yard field goal by Marc Domonkos. The Bald Eagles' score was set up when Kyle Crane forced a Ferlando Williams fumble at the YSU 46-yard line and LHU's Josh Moran recovered.
The Penguins answered right back scoring their first touchdown of the afternoon and never trailed again.
Sophomore tailback Jabari Scott scored on an impressive 51-yard run to put the Penguins ahead 7-3 with 4:57 remaining in the first quarter. Scott had 14 yards on his first three carries of the drive before Tom Zetts connected with Rory Berry for five yards. On the next play, Scott raced 51 yards scoring his third touchdown of the season.
After forcing a three-and-out, the Penguins scored their second touchdown of the afternoon to pull ahead 14-3. Williams took over as quarterback and used his feet to give YSU an 11-point advantage. He accounted for 62 of the 70 yards during the drive, including a career-long 40-yard touchdown run to extend the lead.
In the second quarter, Youngstown State scored on an impressive
13-play, 64-yard drive that elapsed 7:13 off the clock. With 7:02
remaining, Brandon Nicholson scored on a three-yard run as YSU went
ahead 21-3.
Youngstown State took its initial drive of the second half and
scored to pull ahead 28-3. Sophomore Aaron Pitts caught a 19-yard
pass from Zetts for his first career score just under two minutes
into the period.
Zetts took matters into his own hands for the Penguins' fifth touchdown of the afternoon. His 25-yard scramble with 5:24 remaining in the third quarter put YSU in front 35-3. The offense had a productive drive moving the ball 84 yards on 10 plays.
Zetts finished the game completing 11-of-16 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown. Scott had 88 yards on 12 carries and a score.
The Penguins begin Gateway Football Conference play next Saturday against Missouri State. Kickoff for the contest at Stambaugh Stadium is 6 p.m.
