The Penguin Club is the booster organization that supports Youngstown State University student-athletes participating in 21 Division I sports. Your support helps provide scholarships and grant-in-aid, which enable our student-athletes to pursue their education while competing in the Horizon League, Missouri Valley Football Conference, Conference USA and Mid-American Conference.
Membership is open to alumni, friends of the university, businesses, foundations and our great fans. As the cost of both higher education and athletic competition continues to rise, so does the challenge of competing at a Championship Level. To meet this challenge, the YSU Athletic Department relies on Penguin Club membership, fund-raising events and special donors to provide the margin for excellence each year.
The Penguin Club has opportunities that are unique to football through the Gridiron Club and benefits for the college basketball fan through the Courtside Coaches Club.
Your support of the Penguin Club is vital to our mission of providing YSU student-athletes with educational and athletic opportunities. Beyond the personal pleasure gained from being an active Penguin Family member, your membership also brings tax advantages.
Significant resources are required to support an intercollegiate athletic program and to provide opportunities to our current student-athletes and our future community leaders. That is why your support of the Penguin Club is vital in helping us continue to educate, teach and coach our student-athletes while promoting the ideals of college athletics.

Membership Benefits
The Gridiron Club
The Gridiron Club provides full Penguin Club membership for the avid Penguins Football fan. Gridiron Club members receive preferred mid-field seating in the Stambaugh Stadium chairback seats. Other football benefits can include gameday parking and priority for post-season football tickets - exclusive to Gridiron Club members.
The Courtside Coaches Club
The Courtside Coaches Club provides access for the entire men's and women's basketball seasons. Courtside Coaches Club members receive benefits based on level. The Coaches Court Room provides pregame and halftime access where members receive statistics, game programs, complimentary snacks, food and soft drinks along with a chance to socialize with other Penguins basketball fans.
Primary Fundraising Events
SES Engineering Jamboree
The Penguin Club Jamboree is held annually each fall, and the event celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2025 when it was held at Waypoint 4180 in Canfield. The Jamboree features dinner, a reverse raffle, live auction items, online actions and red bag raffles.
Scholarship/Ring Banquet
The Penguin Club Scholarship/Ring Banquet is held annually early in the spring semester at Mr. Anthony's in Boardman to celebrate YSU's championship teams from the previous year and honor supporters from the community selected as the Penguin of the Year. The Ring/Banquet in 2026 was the 35th in the event's history.
State Farm Scholarship Golf Outing
The Penguin Club Scholarship Golf Outing is held annually each June at the Youngstown Country Club. The scramble-format event has grown into a two-day occurrence, with a morning flight and an afternoon flight. Golfers receive gifts based on their sponsorship level, and prizes are awarded for team finishes, longest drive and closest to the pin.
