Burrows on Hundelt: “Missy will be our biggest player on the outside. She has done a great job of transitioning to the outside position after being a middle blocker for many years. She is currently a six-rotation player, and we look for her to jump in immediately and vie for a starting position on the outside. Missy hits a heavy ball and will continue to improve her ball control and defense. She has the potential to be a leader for us because of her vocal abilities, and that may be something that we will ask of her sooner rather than later.
2010 (Freshman): Played in 86 sets over 27 matches, 26 of which she started... Led the Penguins with 198 kills, 2.30 kills per set, 729 attempts, 227 points and 2.64 points per set... Became the third freshman since 1993 to lead YSU in kills... Averaged 2.51 kills per set in conference play and 2.69 per set at Beeghly Center... Also ranked third on the team in digs... Played in the first 73 sets of the season before missing the next 10 with an injury... Had three double-doubles in a five-match span before the injury... Posted five double-doubles for the year... Posted career-highs with 19 kills and 52 attempts against Wright State (10/5)... The last time a Penguin freshman had more than 19 kills was Sept. 29, 2006 when Ruth Boscaljon had 20 against UIC... Had 13 kills and a career-high 17 digs against UIC (10/16)... Collected her first double-double with 17 kills and 14 digs in the win over Howard (9/3)... Hit a career-best .483 against the Bison... Posted her third double-double at Loyola, recording 10 kills and 10 digs to go along with a career-high four blocks (10/9)... Her fifth double-double came in the home finale against Loyola with 10 kills and 12 digs (11/6)... Reached double figures in kills seven times and double figures in digs on nine occasions... Named to the all-tournament team at the YSU Invitational... Had 39 kills and 22 digs in the three matches... Had a career-high two aces against both Howard and Niagara... High School: Named First-Team All-Missouri at the Class 2 level as both a sophomore and senior at Orchard Farm High... As a senior, she led the St. Louis area with 5.42 kills per set, and she added 5.18 digs per set... As a sophomore, she registered 453 kills, which ranks as the 14th-most for a single season according to the Missouri State High School Activities Association record book... Had 29 kills on a state-record .778 attack percentage in a match that season... Her .521 attack percentage as a sophomore also ranks as the second-best percentage in state history... Was recognized as one of the top 79 sophomores in the nation... Finished her career with 1,165 kills, 1,123 digs and 322 blocks... Named first-team all-conference and first-team all-region all four years and first-team all-district three times... An honorable mention all-state pick as a freshman... Helped lead her team to four conference titles, two titles each at the sectional, district and regional levels... Earned academic all-state honors her final two years... Earned four letters and was team captain twice... Member of National Honor Society and was Vice President of Future Business Leaders of America... Also participated in track and was a member of the dance team... Her St. Louis CYC Club Volleyball team placed fifth in the USA Nationals tournament in 2008.
