Frank Califano Biography

2015 (Junior) | Game-By-Game Stats: Drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 19th Round of the 2015 MLB Draft... Signed and reported to the Great Falls Voyagers of the Rookie Pioneer League... Named First-Team All-Horizon League, becoming the first Penguins outfielder to be a first-teamer since Tom Clayton in 2010... Was the only player to play in all 50 games and started 49 in centerfield... Was the leadoff batter in 42 starts... Hit .362 with 33 runs scored, 18 RBIs and 19 stolen bases... Drew 18 walks while striking out just 24 times... Ranked second in the Horizon League in both batting average and steals, and he was six points shy of winning the regular-season batting title... His 19 steals were the most by a Penguin since 2001, and his 75 hits tied for the ninth-most for a year in program history... Hit safely in each of YSU's final 24 Horizon League contests and in the final 19 games of his career... Tied for the league lead in hits during the regular season with 74... Posted 24 multi-hit games... Posted a league-high .383 batting average in conference play... Also led the club with 19 runs in league play... Named the Horizon League Batter of the Week on April 27... Was an outstanding bunter with 17 bunt singles... Had four hits twice – at Milwaukee (4/19) and against Wright State (4/25)... Golden West College: Batted .329 with a home run, 19 runs scored, 15 RBIs and 20 stolen bases as a sophomore... Stole three bases in back-to-back games against Irvine Valley... Scored multiple runs three times and had multiple RBIs twice... Hit .292 with 29 runs scored, 10 RBIs and nine steals as a freshman.

High School: Earned four letters as a pitcher... Was 7-1 with a 1.00 ERA and 55 strikeouts... Set a school record with 21 pickoffs... Earned second-team all-league honors... Helped lead Steele Canyon to a league title in 2009... Also played football.
