Session 1 | Priming Performance: A Multi-Lens Approach to Prepping Athletes for Training & Competition

Speaker: Frank Cremonese

Description: Neurological Activation, Coordination, and Reflex Training for Injury Prevention & Skill Development

  • In the fast-paced world of high school athletics, preparing athletes for training and competition goes far beyond a standard warm-up. This hands-on session will dive into a multi-lens approach that enhances athletic performance by integrating neurological activation, innate reflexes, coordination drills, and brain stimulation techniques.
  • With limited time and large groups, we’ve developed highly effective strategies to optimize movement efficiency, increase team engagement, and drastically reduce injuries. By targeting neurological pathways and fundamental movement patterns, we ensure our athletes are primed to perform at their highest level—both in training and competition.
  • Attendees will walk away with immediately applicable drills and concepts to use in their programs.
  • This session will provide real-world, field-tested applications that have transformed the athletic program at Upper St. Clair.

Session 2 | Stronger Together: The Power of Collaboration Between Medical and Performance Staff in Athlete Return-To-Play

Speakers: Nick Calhoun and Emily Mulkey Swisher

  • This presentation highlights the importance of interprofessional collaboration between medical and performance staff in the successful return of athletes to their highest level of play. We discuss the phases of returning to play, the roles and responsibilities of each entity, and give tangible communication and coordination studies. Throughout the presentation, case studies are utilized to show that objective data and player metrics are a crucial piece that allow both medical and performance staffs to collaborate together.

Session 3 | In-Season Speed and Power Development: A First Principles Approach

Speaker: Adam Kolberg

  • This presentation will be focused on simplifying in-season speed and power training for outdoor team sports (i.e. Football, Soccer, and Baseball). It will include live demonstrations of all speed and power training activities.

Session 4 | Maximizing Genetic Potential

Speaker: Mason Garrison

  • Coach Garrison will describe and teach the inner workings of Youngstown State Football Sports Performance. The importance of mastering the basics, coaching strategies and the role of Strength & Conditioning in a realistic team-sport environment.

Session 5 | Force Plate and Workload Monitoring for Basketball

Speaker: Austin Davis

  • This presentation will focus on how force plate data is gathered, read, and then applied in the realm of basketball strength and conditioning.
  • Additional workload management strategies and considerations will also be presented and discussed.
