Vytas Sulskis scored the fifth-most points by a YSU player since the program moved to the Division I level in 1981. He finished his career ranking 16th on the all-time scoring list with 1,311 career points. A four-year letterwinner, the school record holder for most games played (120), and one of most prolific 3-point shooters in school history, he is just the fourth men's basketball player and the first player since Quin Humphrey to win the YSU/Vindicator Male Scholar-Athlete-of-the-Year Award.
Just the second player in school history to play in 120 straight games, Sulskis is also second in YSU history with 169 career 3-pointers, fifth in career minutes played (3,080), eighth in career steals (107) and 10th in career blocks (51).
For his career, he averaged 10.9 points per game, scored in double figures 67 times, including 14 20-point games, grabbed 525 rebounds and had 230 assists.
On Nov. 27, 2010, Sulskis became the 32nd player to score 1,000 career points when he scored 22 points against Saint Francis (Pa.) in a 91-63 victory.
Sulskis turned in his best offensive season during his senior campaign. He led the team in scoring with 392 points for an average of 13.1 points per game, which ranked 16th in the Horizon League. He made 43 3-pointers and ranked ninth in the Horizon League with a 3-point field-goal percentage of .374. He also turned in a career-best .482 field-goal percentage and shot .705 from the free-throw line. Sulskis also ranked second on the team with 5.2 rebounds per game.
He scored in double figures 22 times, including six 20-point performances. He tied a career high with 26 points against Wright State on Feb. 7, 2011, when he made his first nine field-goal attempts, including six consecutive 3-pointers.
As a junior during the 2009-10 season, Sulskis scored 340 points and averaged 11.3 points per game with 133 rebounds and 53 assists. He scored in double figures 19 times and connected on 38 percent (41-of-108) of his 3-point attempts.
He scored a season-high 24 points and recorded his first career double-double with a career-high-tying 11 rebounds against Valparaiso on Feb. 13.
In 2008-09 as a sophomore, he scored 309 points for an average of 10.3 points per game. He scored in double figures 14 times with two 20-point efforts and grabbed 104 rebounds with 56 assists and 27 steals. His 24 points against Robert Morris were a season high and his jumper with 1.4 seconds left lifted the Guins to a 70-68 win over Milwaukee on Feb. 14.
During his freshman season in 2007-08, Sulskis became the first YSU freshman named to the Horizon League All-Newcomer Team and was tabbed a Mid-Major Freshman All-American by CollegeInsider.com. He scored 270 points, grabbed 131 rebounds, had 60 assists, 32 steals and seven blocks. He posted double figures in scoring 12 times and scored at least 20 points on two occasions. He set the YSU freshman records for most 3-pointers made (46) and attempted (121).
A graduate of The Rock (Fla.), and a native of Vilnius, Lithuania, he is the son of Dalia Sulskiene and Romas Sulskis. Majoring in Business Management, he owns a grade-point average of 3.27.
