Biography

Career Notes: Finished his YSU career ranked second in school history with 88 career steals… Became just the second player in school history and the first since 1971 to accumulate at least 80 steals… Became the first Penguin to lead his team in stolen bases in four straight seasons since Kendall Schlabach did so from 2001-04… Owns three of the six-highest single-season stolen base totals in YSU history... One of three players in school history to earn all-league honors three times.

2020 (Junior) | Game-By-Game Stats: Started all 14 games – 11 at second base, two in right field and one in left field… Batted leadoff in six of his starts and in the third spot six times… Batted .250 and slugged .339 with two doubles and a home run in a team-high 56 at-bats… Led the Penguins with 11 walks, 10 runs scored and eight stolen bases in 11 attempts… Led the Horizon League in steals while ranking tied for second in walks and tied for fourth in runs scored… Tied for second on the team with 19 total bases… Ranked third on the squad with 14 hits and a .373 on-base percentage… Recorded at least one hit in 12 of 14 games… Had two multi-hit games and three games with multiple RBIs… Ended the season on a five-game hitting streak that extended from March 4 through March 10… Reached base safely in each of YSU’s final 10 games… Committed one error in 36 chances in the field and was credited with 20 assists… Singled and had two RBIs in the season opener at Houston (2/14)… Went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base at College of Charleston (2/22)… Hit a two-run home run at Abilene Christian (2/27)… Hit an RBI single, walked twice, scored two runs and stole a season-high three bases at Pittsburgh (3/4)… Notched a pair of singles, a walk and two steals at N.C. 2019 (Sophomore) | Game-By-Game StatsPlayed in and started 48 games — 47 in left field and one in center field… Batted cleanup in 24 of his starts and in the third spot 16 times… Named Second-Team All-Horizon League… Led YSU and set new career highs with a .290 batting average, 54 hits and 30 stolen bases… Was 30-for-35 in stolen base attempts… Also recorded career highs with 31 runs scored, six home runs, 27 RBIs, 24 walks, 82 total bases, a .373 on-base percentage and a .441 slugging percentage in 186 at-bats… His 30 steals tied for the second-most in a single season in program history… Became the second player in YSU history and first since 1970 to steal at least 30 bases in a season… Finished the regular season ranked second in the Horizon League and 16th in the nation in steals… Only four underclassmen in the country had more steals at the conclusion of the regular season… Hit .330 and led YSU with 31 hits, seven doubles and 17 stolen bases in league play… Recorded a team-high 15 multi-hit games and had seven games with multiple RBIs…  Hit safely in nine straight games from April 18 through May 5… Reached base in 11 straight games at one point... Batted .356 against left-handed pitching, .315 with runners in scoring position and .304 with two outs... Committed four errors in 135 chances in the field... Had two hits including a home run at Miami (Ohio) on March 8… Notched two hits including a home run and scored three runs at Northern Kentucky (3/16)… Hit a two-run homer against Pittsburgh (3/26)… Went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, three RBIs and four steals at Wright State (3/30)… Became the third player in YSU history and the first since 1968 to steal at least four bases in a game… Four steals were one shy of the single-game school record… Went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and three steals vs. St. Bonaventure (4/24)… Notched three hits including a double, scored three runs and swiped four bases against Eastern Michigan (5/1)… Had three hits including a two-run homer and a career-high four RBIs against Ohio State (5/14)… Became the first player in YSU history to steal at least four bases in a game multiple times… Became the first Penguin to ever steal at least three bases in a game on three different occasions… Became the second player in program history to steal three or more bags in a game twice in the same season... Stole at least three bases in four different contests.

2018 (Freshman) | Game-By-Game Stats: Played in 53 games, starting 52 of them — 28 at shortstop, 16 at first base and eight as the designated hitter… Batted third in the lineup in 34 of his starts… Named Second-Team All-Horizon League and to the league’s All-Freshman Team… Batted .241 while leading the team with 216 at-bats… Tied for the team lead with 13 doubles while ranking third with 25 RBIs and 71 total bases… Led the team and ranked second in the Horizon League with 25 stolen bases… That total is the most ever by a YSU freshman… He became the first Penguin since 1988 to reach at least 25 steals in a season…. His 25 steals also rank as the fourth-most in a single season in school history… Only three freshmen in the country had more steals at the conclusion of the regular season… Batted .282 with nine doubles, 17 RBIs and 15 steals against Horizon League opponents… Led the Horizon League with 124 at bats while ranking second with 15 steals, third with nine doubles and fourth with 35 hits in conference games…. Had 13 multi-hit games and eight games with multiple RBIs… Reached base in 17 straight games at one point… Went on an eight-game hitting streaking from May 6 through May 15... Had two steals and two hits including his first career home run at No. 13 Louisville (2/25)… Recorded three hits including two doubles with three RBIs in the second game of a doubleheader against Milwaukee (3/17)… Had three hits with a double and three RBIs at Northern Kentucky (5/12)… Hit his second home run at Ohio (5/9)… Posted three hits and three stolen bases at Toledo (5/8)… Became one of six Penguins since 2000 to steal three bases in a game… Before the season, only one Penguin had stolen at least three bases in a game since 2003.

High School: Earned four letters and was a team captain for two years… Part of a state runner-up team as a freshman while hitting .437... Followed that up with a .415 batting average during his sophomore season... During his junior season, he hit .508 and received the team's Offensive MVP award... Named a Central Penn League All-Star, Tri-County/Courier Express First Team All-Star and Northern Allegheny League Large School All-Star… Also a three-year letter winner in basketball… Two-year letter winner in golf… One-year letter winner in football.

Personal: Parents are Dale and Tammy… Has a sister (Kirstie) and two brothers (Andy and Eric)… Major is general studies... Recipient of the 2020-21 Coca-Cola Scholarship.
