More About Katlyn:
Why I chose YSU: I chose YSU because of how connected the team was and how connected the athletes were as a whole. It doesn’t get any better than having teammates that will be your friends for a lifetime.
The best thing about Coach Miklos is: He cares about his players as if they are his own daughters. He will go above and beyond for you and it truthfully means the world knowing I have a coach that would go to the ends of the earth to make sure we’re all healthy and happy.
The best thing about being a Penguin golfer: The experience itself. Only a handful of people ever get to experience being a college athlete, let alone a Division I athlete. We get to experience so many things and although it is a huge commitment, I wouldn’t change it for the world.
The best thing about going to school at YSU is: The professors care about you as a person, the campus is beautiful, the football games are phenomenal and everyone is so friendly that it just feels like home.
At 150 yards, I pull out my: 7 iron.
My favorite club in my bag is my: Driver. Nothing feels better than the first drive, straight down the middle, to set off a powerful and confident round.
My favorite golf course: Tobacco Road Golf Club (Sanford, North Carolina). We played this on Spring Break my freshman year and it was the most unique course I have ever played and definitely made a big impact on my top five favorite courses.
My favorite golfer: Danielle Kang
My golf superstitions/rituals are: Hairstyle. If I play well the first day, my hairstyle stays the same (bun, ponytail, braid). If I don’t play well, I switch it up.
Person I would love to play a round of golf with: Dustin Johnson, just to watch in person how far he hits it.
My greatest sports moment: When we were playing a tournament in North Carolina, I eagled from about 50 yards out and when I came in from my round I found out that my sister, who was playing directly behind me, had eagled the same hole from almost the same exact spot.
Best career competitive round: 71 on the second day of the Horizon League Championships. It also ended up being my career low tournament as well which is 1+ for three rounds.
Hobbies: Sleeping
Post-college plans/ambitions: Move south or west and become a teaching pro or a pharmacist for a big hospital.
