Biography

2017 (Senior) | Game-By-Game StatsMade nine starts on the mound, which was second-most on the team… Recorded a team-best 3.95 ERA and two complete games… Tied for the team lead with three wins… Finished the season with a 3-0 record, 41 innings pitched, 12 walks and 24 strikeouts… Made all nine of his starts in Horizon League play… Led the team with 4.56 innings pitched per appearance and a 2.0 strikeout to walk ratio… Earned his first complete game and second win in the second game of a doubleheader against Wright State on April 9, allowing just five hits and two runs while striking out seven… Threw his second complete game and earned the win in the second game of a doubleheader against Milwaukee on the April 22, allowing just five hits and one run while striking out seven… Finished his YSU career tied for seventh in games started (40), 15th in innings pitched (208.1) and 18th in strikeouts (144).

2016 (Junior) | Game-By-Game Stats: Made 14 starts on the mound, which tied for the team lead and tied for the fifth-most in the Horizon League... Finished with a 2-8 record and a 5.16 ERA in 68 innings... Struck out 55 batters while walking 36, and opponents hit .286 against him... His ERA was tops among YSU's starters... Had a 3.03 ERA through the end of March, which included 32.2 innings... Allowed just one home run in his 68 innings... Earned his first victory at Belmont when he held the Bruins to two runs on six hits while striking out seven in six innings (3/5)... Also earned the win over Canisius when he allowed four runs in five innings (4/30)... Struck out a season-high eight batters and allowed just three hits over eight innings in a 1-0 loss to Milwaukee (3/26)... Had a no-hitter for 6.2 innings against UWM.

2015 (Sophomore) | Game-By-Game Stats: Started 12 games as part of the weekend rotation... Finished the season with a 3-6 record and a 4.82 ERA in 61.2 innings... Struck out 47 batters while walking 24, and he held opponents to a .277 batting average... Led the Penguins in starts, wins and strikeouts... Improved against Horizon League opponents, going 2-4 with a 3.93 ERA in 50.1 innings... Struck out 38 league batters, which was the seventh most in the conference, and his batting average against was .246, which was the fourth-best mark in the league... Posted a 2.05 ERA over his final four starts... His first win came against Indiana State when he allowed four runs and struck out six batters in five innings (3/9)... Also won his next start when he held Milwaukee to two runs on six hits in six innings (3/14)... His third win came over Wright State when he limited the Raiders to two runs on four hits over six innings (4/25)... Pitched six innings on six occasions and had a quality start in each... 2014 (Freshman) | Game-By-Game Stats: Named to the Horizon League All-Tournament Team... Pitched in 12 games, five of which he started... Finished with a 1-2 record and a 4.78 ERA, allowing 20 earned runs in 37.2 innings, while striking out 18 batters and walking nine... Had a 5.40 ERA in two regular-season league games... Had a 3.00 ERA as a starter... Finished the season with a 2.08 ERA over his last four appearances, allowing four earned runs in 17.1 innings... Was outstanding in the postseason with one run allowed in 10.2 innings... His pinnacle moment came when he held Wright State to one run on five hits while striking out six in a complete game victory in the Horizon League Tournament (May 22)... Held Indiana scoreless on two hits in 1.2 innings in the NCAA Tournament (May 30)... Prior to the complete game against Wright State, his longest outing was four innings... Made his first start against Kent State on April 8 and held the Golden Flashes to two runs in four innings... Also started at Akron (April 22), and against Toledo (May 13), Valparaiso (May 17) and Wright State in the league tournament.

High School: Named the Tribune Chronicle’s Male Athlete of the Year in 2013 as a three-sport star… Pitched and played shortstop… As a senior, posted a 5-2 record with 70 strikeouts and a 2.20 ERA… Also had a .415 batting average… Named Second-Team All-Ohio at the Division III level in basketball as a senior when he averaged 23.2 points and 11.3 rebounds as Brookfield went 19-4… Was honorable mention all-state as a junior… In football, played quarterback and free safety as the Warriors went 12-1 and advanced to the Division IV Region 13 championship game… Named First-Team Northeast Ohio Inland All-District as well as special mention all-state… Solid all-around player who rushed for 1,249 yards and 15 touchdowns, passed for 1,233 yards and 12 touchdowns, made 76 tackles and intercepted six passes… Posted a 3.83 grade-point average while being a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club and Freshman Focus.

Personal: Parents are Daniel and Stefanie... Has a twin brother (Jimmy) and a sister (Alisha)... His mother attended YSU... Major is general studies.
