YSU Announces Future Meetings At Toledo For 2027, 2033 Seasons

The Youngstown State football team will open the 2027 season with an August 28 visit to Toledo. The schools also announced a contest that will be held in Toledo on August 27, 2033.
The last meeting between the programs was on Sept. 30, 1961. The previous meeting in Toledo was on Sept. 17, 1960. A September 2001 contest between the program's was cancelled as it was the Saturday of the 9/11 attacks on the United States.
There have been seven all-time meetings between the Penguins and Rockets, all of which came between 1942 and 1961.
YSU's last game against a Mid-American Conference foe was Kent State in 2003. A 2020 contest against Akron was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Penguins visit South Dakota State on Saturday evening. Kickoff at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium is set for 7 p.m. Eastern time.
