YSU’s Bowling Program Announces 2026-27 Schedule

Youngstown, Ohio — Youngstown State's bowling program will compete in nine tournaments during a challenging regular-season slate with eyes on returning to the National Collegiate Women's Bowling Championship for the seventh straight season in 2026-27. Penguins head coach Doug Kuberski announced YSU's schedule on Wednesday.
Youngstown State returns all eight bowlers from the 2025-26 squad that earned an at-large invitation to the NCAA Tournament and finished the season ranked eighth in the National Tenpin Coaches Association Top 25 Poll. Malayna Calo, a freshman right-hander from Riverview, Fla., is the ninth member of the program, which begins its 11th season in 2026-27.
As they have for the seventh time in the last eight seasons, the Penguins will open the campaign at their home center in Struthers, Ohio. The Chelsea Gilliam Penguin Classic at Holiday Bowl will be Oct. 16-18 and the first of three tournaments in the fall semester. Two weeks later, YSU will bowl at Destination Orlando for the fourth straight season, and the fall ledger will conclude at the Jersey Jamboree from Nov. 20-22. That event in Hackensack, N.J., will be the first tournament hosted by FDU that YSU has attended since its opening season in 2016-17.
The spring slate will be a repeat of 2025-26 with six tournaments in six different states over a span of eight weeks. YSU will begin the busy stretch at the Northeast Classic in New Castle, Del., from Jan. 15-17, and it will head south to Arlington, Texas, for the PVAMU Invitational at the International Training and Research Center from Jan. 22-24.
The first of three tournaments in February will be the Flyer Classic in Lockport, Ill., from Feb. 5-7, and the Penguins will continue the month at the Big Red Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., from Feb. 19-21. The Stallings Invitational in Greensboro, N.C., will finish February's schedule, and YSU's final regular-season event will be the Music City Classic in Smyrna, Tenn., on the opening weekend of March.
The Conference USA Championship will be March 17-21 in Lincoln, Neb., a change from recent years when it was held in Harahan, La. The NCAA Championship will be held at AMF Mt. Lebanon Lanes in Pittsburgh, Pa.
