The Youngstown State men's and women's track and field teams earned Horizon League Outdoor Championships during a great three-day event hosted in Rochester, Mich., at the Elaine Leigh Track and Field Complex.
League Honors
- Men's Champions – Trenton Shutters (800m), Lukas Lang (pole vault), Sage Vavro (steeplechase), Brayden Green (triple jump), Levi Glassmeyer (hammer throw), Jaden Kirkwood (shot put), Micah Mitchell (110m hurdles) and the 4x100m.
- Men's Runner-Up Finishes – Brandon Hutchinson (javelin), Connor Shingleton (steeplechase), Patrick Burgos (5,000m), Mitchell (400m hurdles), Jak Rovan (4.80m) and Isaiah Barker (high jump).
- Women's Champions – India Bailey (javelin), McKinley Fielding (1,500m), Lea Parham (100m Hurdles).
- Women's Runner-Up Finishes – Caleigh Richards (10,000m), Tori Atkins (400m), Gabbi Selman (pole vault).
- Women's Award Winners – Tori Atkins (Freshman Running Athlete of the Meet)
Men's Horizon League Championship Notes
- The men's team raced to their seventh straight league title and 10th overall, scoring 264 points and winning by an impressive 124.5-point margin.
- Won eight event titles (800m, pole vault, steeplechase, triple jump, hammer throw, shot put, 110m hurdles, 4x400m) and had six runner-up performances.
- The Penguins scored 36 points on day one, 58 on day two and a whopping 170 on the final day.
- The Guins scored 21 in the 110m hurdles, 21 in the shot put, 19 in the 400m hurdles, 18 in the steeplechase, 18 in the pole vault and 16 in the triple jump. YSU had 10-or-more points in 15 individual events.
- YSU scored at least 200 points for the ninth straight event.
- Trenton Shutters, Lukas Lang and Sage Vavro repeated from their 2025 championships.
- Alan Austin and Dominic Brown scored in three events.
- YSU has won nine straight 110m hurdles titles.
- YSU has won nine straight pole vault titles.
Women's Horizon League Championship Notes
- The women won for the 17th time overall, 11th time in the last 12 years and 12th time in the last 14 meets. YSU has finished first or second in every outdoor meet held since 2004.
- The Guins scored 172 points in the meet to win by 8.5 points. The Penguins scored 27 points on day one, 12 on day two and a whopping 133 on the final day.
- The Penguins scored 21 points in the pole vault, 15 in the 1,500m, 14 in the 5,000m, 13 in the 400m an 13 in the 10,000m.
- YSU won two event titles (javelin and 1,500m).
- Posted runner-up finishes in the pole vault, 400m, and 10,000m.
