Youngstown, Ohio — The Horizon League announced the bracket for the 2026 Barbasol Horizon League Women's Basketball Championship on Saturday, and second-seeded Youngstown State will host ninth-seeded Wright State in the first round on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Tickets for the game inside Zidian Family Arena at Beeghly Center are currently on sale. The YSU Athletic Ticket Office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Wednesday for buyers to purchase tickets in person or over the phone at (330) 941-1978. Tickets are also available through YSUsports.com.
The Penguins have matched their highest seed ever in the tournament, and they are the No. 2 seed for the third time since joining the conference in 2001-02. Youngstown State was most recently the second seed in 2021-22 when it shared the Horizon League regular-season title, and it was the No. 2 seed in 2012-13. YSU finished the regular season with a 22-8 overall record and a 15-5 conference record, and it enters the tournament on a five-game winning streak.
Wright State is the ninth seed after finishing 10-21 overall and 6-14 against league teams. The Penguins beat the Raiders twice during the regular season, winning 65-46 in Youngstown on Dec. 16 and 78-67 in overtime on Jan. 14 in Dayton, Ohio. Wright State beat YSU in the conference tournament a year ago to end the Penguins' season.
Green Bay is the tournament's top seed, and it will host the winner of Monday's play-in game between Detroit Mercy and Milwaukee. In other first-round action on Wednesday, No. 3 Cleveland State will host No. 8 Oakland, No. 4 NKU will host No. 7 IU Indy, and No. 5 Purdue Fort Wayne will host No. 6 RMU.
The 2026 Barbasol Horizon League Basketball Championships will culminate with second round, semifinal and championship games at the Corteva Coliseum March 8-10.
