Penguins Complete 2026-27 Schedule with Unveiling of Horizon League Slate

Youngstown State's women's basketball team's schedule for the 2026-27 season is complete following Thursday's announcement of the Horizon League portion of the slate.
YSU's 26th season of Horizon League competition will begin with three straight home games at Zidian Family Arena at Beeghly Center. The Penguins will open league play by hosting Milwaukee on Dec. 3 before hosting Green Bay in a rematch of last season's Horizon League Women's Basketball Championship Game on Dec. 5.
Youngstown State will also host the league's newest member Northern Illinois on Dec. 31 in its first contest after the holiday break. The New Year's Eve game on Rosselli Court will mark the first meeting between YSU and Northern Illinois in women's basketball.
Between the home game against the Phoenix and the New Year's Eve tilt with the Huskies, YSU will play at Southern California on Dec. 13 before closing out non-conference action with a two-game tournament at Fairleigh Dickinson on Dec. 19-20.
YSU's first two road contests in Horizon League play will be at Northern Kentucky on Jan. 2 and at Oakland on Jan. 7. The Penguins return home to host IU Indy on Jan. 10 and Purdue Fort Wayne on Jan. 13 before traveling to face Northeast Ohio rival Cleveland State on Jan. 16.
Youngstown State will face its first repeat opponent of the ledger when it hosts Oakland on Jan. 21 before a home game against Detroit Mercy on Jan. 23 which is scheduled as part of a doubleheader with the YSU men's basketball team.
YSU's road contest at Northern Illinois on Jan. 28 begins a stretch of three straight and four of five games away from Youngstown. The Penguins are slated to take on IU Indy in Indianapolis on Jan. 31 before venturing to Wright State on Feb. 3 for their first meeting of the season with the Raiders.
After returning home for the first meeting of the slate with Robert Morris on Feb. 7, YSU heads back on the road for a contest at Purdue Fort Wayne on Feb. 10. The Penguins will host Cleveland State as part of a doubleheader with the YSU men on Feb. 13 before making the annual trek to Wisconsin for road tilts at Milwaukee on Feb. 17 and at Green Bay on Feb. 20.
YSU's regular season home finale will come on Feb. 25 against Wright State before the Guins conclude the conference slate at Robert Morris on Feb. 27. Youngstown State is scheduled to play three of its last four and seven of its final 10 regular season games away from Zidian Family Arena at Beeghly Center.
