The Youngstown State men's basketball team (15-15, 8-11 Horizon League) plays its regular-season finale when it visits Green Bay, Saturday, Feb. 28. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. ET the Kress Center and the game will be aired on 570 WKBN and ESPN+.

Last Time Out
Junior Rich Rolf posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, but the Youngstown State suffered a 78-65 setback to Milwaukee on Feb. 25 at UWM Panther Arena. Green Bay enters the game with an overall record of 16-14 and an 11-8 mark in Horizon League play. The Phoenix is coming off a 74-70 loss at Detroit Mercy on Feb. 22. Leading Green Bay is C.J. O'Hara and Marcus Hall with 14.1 points per game apiece. Justin Allen is averaging 13.2 points per contest. As a team, Green Bay is averaging 74.8 points per game while allowing 75.2 points per contest.
Series vs. Green Bay
This is the 58th meeting between Youngstown State and Green Bay in a series dating back to 1993. The Phoenix own a 36-21 advantage in the all-time series, but the Penguins have won the last four contests. Earlier this season, the Penguins defeated Green Bay, 88-81, on Jan. 22 at Zidian Family Arena. Last season, Youngstown State swept the Phoenix, 73-69, on Jan. 19 in Green Bay, and 81-77 on Feb. 25 in Youngstown. Youngstown State has won 10 of the last 12 games against Green Bay. The Penguins have won six times in Green Bay, including the last four contests. The last time Youngstown State lost in Green Bay was 103-92 defeat on Feb. 27, 2020.
Last Time Against the Phoenix
Youngstown State scored on its first seven possessions of the second half, and Cris Carroll scored a career-high 34 points as the Penguins beat Green Bay 88-81 on Jan. 22 at Zidian Family Arena at Beeghly Center. Carroll connected on eight of YSU's 16 3-pointers, setting his career high for triples, and the Penguins made at least 10 3s for the 14th time this season. YSU finished 16-for-36 from long distance and made nine more 3s than the Phoenix. Carroll finished 11-for-16 overall from the field and 8-for-12 from beyond the arc, and the senior forward from Tallahassee, Fla., added four free throws to reach his 34 points. The eight 3-pointers tied for the most by a Penguin in a Horizon League game and against a Division I opponent. The last YSU player to make eight triples in a conference game was Quin Humphrey against Detroit Mercy on Feb. 14, 2007. Bryson Dawkins and Rich Rolf both scored 15 points, and Jaiden Haynes scored 12 as four Penguins reached double figures to complement Carroll.
Penguins Set 3s Record, 200 3s Streak ExtendedÂ
Youngstown State set the school record for most 3s in a single-season after making eight against Milwaukee on Feb. 25. The Penguins, who have 306 this year, broke the old mark of 303 set in the 2018-19 season. It is also just the second time in program history that Youngstown State has made at least 300 3-pointers in a season. With eight 3-pointers made against Cleveland State on Jan. 17, Youngstown State has made at least 200 3-pointers in 15 straight full seasons. Last year, the Penguins made 299 3-pointers. The streak dates back to the 2010-11 season, and does not include the COVID-19 shortened 2020-21 campaign.Â

Blackshear Gettin' Hot
Junior Tae Blackshear has been on tear recently. Over the last seven games, Blackshear is averaging 11.6 points per game while shooting 56.1 percent (32-for-57) from the field and 49.7 percent (19-for-39) from 3-point range. Blackshear scored 18 points with three 3s in YSU's 106-82 win over Cleveland State on Feb. 18. He scored a career-high 22 points in the Penguins' 76-70 loss to Detroit Mercy on Feb. 15. Blackshear also tied a school single-game record going 9-for-9 from the field for a 1.000 shooting percentage. He is the first player to make all his field-goal attempts (min. 7) since TeJay Anderson against Southern Utah on Jan. 13, 2001. Â
Carroll Approaching 3s Record
Senior Cris Carroll has moved into YSU single-season top 10 chart for most 3-pointers made in a season and is approaching the single-season record. Carroll ranks fifth with 85 3s and six more to move into a tie for third on the list. With four 3s against Cleveland State on Feb. 18, Carroll became just the fifth player in school history to make at least 80 3s in a season. Carroll needs 10 more 3s to break the single-season record of 94 set by Blake Allen in 2012-13. He also needs five more 3s to become just the fourth player to make at least 90 3s in a season.
Dawkins in 2026
Senior Bryson Dawkins has thoroughly enjoyed the calendar turn from 2025 to 2026. Since Jan. 1, Dawkins averaged 15.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game and shot 56.9 percent from the floor (99-for-174) in a 16-game span. He has also scored in double figures in 13 of those 16 games. Dawkins scored at least 20 points in consecutive games for the first time this season and he as five 20-point games in the last 16 contests
