Quarterback Beau Brungard has been named the MVFC Offensive Player of the Week after the Penguins roll past the Indiana State Sycamores for their third conference win in a row.
This marks Brungard's second MVFC Offensive Player of the Week honor this season, following his first recognition after a home victory over Duquesne earlier in the season.
Brungard passed for a career-high 386 yards by completing 25-of-34 attempts for three scores in the win at Indiana State. He had two rushing touchdowns giving him a school-record 56 for his career. Brungard had scoring throws of 16, 36 and 75 yards against the Sycamores. He had five completions of 25 yards or longer in the game. Brungard also had two short scoring runs, the last of which came in the fourth quarter which set the school mark for career rushing touchdowns that had stood since 1999. He also caught a pass for a 31-yard gain.
The MVFC Defensive Player of the Week was named to LB Braden McShane out of UNI. The MVFC Newcomer of the Week was Lynn Wyche-El from Youngstown State. The MVFC Special Teams Player of the Week is UNI LB Andrew Price.
The Guins look to continue their win streak as they face UNI this Saturday at home during their homecoming game. The contest is set for 6 p.m. at Stambaugh Stadium.
