Youngstown State junior quarterback Beau Brungard was named the Missouri Valley Football Conference's Offensive Player of the Week following his impressive performance in the 56-17 victory over Robert Morris on Saturday.
Brungard set a school and conference record for rushing yards in a game by a quarterback with 264 on just 10 carries against the Colonials. Brungard rushed for scores of 72, 28, 20 and four yards in the victory. His longest run of the afternoon was a 78-yard scamper to set up another score.
He had 386 yards of total offense while rushing for four touchdowns and passing for another. He played just 33:09 of the contest before exiting with YSU leading 49-3 with 12:51 left in the third quarter.
It marks the fourth time in 14 games as a starter that Brungard has been the MVFC's Offensive Player of the Week.
Other MVFC players earning weekly honors include Indiana State DL Logan Wilson (Defense), Illinois State PK Matt Maldonado (Special Teams) and Indiana State WR Larry Stephens III (Newcomer).
