While Youngstown State's bowling team won the National Championship for the first time in program history, the Penguins also posted the 18th-highest grade-point average in the country during the 2024-25 season.
Youngstown State's group of nine bowlers combined for a 3.578 GPA during the academic year. That fifth-best among teams in Conference USA, and the mark allowed the Penguins to qualify for the NTCA All-Academic Scholar Team award that recognizes teams with a GPA of 3.2 or higher. YSU has earned the NTCA team award for the seventh straight season and for the eighth time in the program's nine-year history.
In addition to the team award, six Penguins were recognized individually on the NTCA All-Academic Team. NTCA All-Academic Scholar-Athletes must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.4 during the academic year. Below are the six YSU bowlers on the team:
