Highland Heights, Ky. – Due to a substantial amount of rainfall, the remainder of the Youngstown State-Northern Kentucky softball series has been canceled. As a result, the Penguins have been awarded a 5-1 victory of game two's six-inning suspended contest.
Youngstown State ends the season with an overall record of 14-39 and 6-17 in the Horizon League.
The Norse close out the regular season with an overall record of 22-25 and a Horizon League mark of 12-10.
Freshman pitcher Autumn Boyd was stellar in the circle allowing just two hits, one earned run and striking out four in a complete-game performance.
Sophomore Lydia Wilkerson went 3-for-4 while Kennedy Dean went 2-for-3 and Bree Kohler drove in a double of runs.
The Penguins scored three unearned runs in the top of the second inning, and Kohler's two-run double in the top of the third gave the Penguins a 5-0 lead.
