The fourth-seeded Youngstown State baseball team will play the fifth-seeded Oakland Golden Grizzlies in the opening round of the 2025 Horizon League Baseball Championship on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Nischwitz Stadium in Dayton, Ohio.
The Penguins finished the 2025 regular season with a 14-40 overall record and an 11-19 mark in Horizon League play. The Golden Grizzlies finished the regular season with an 17-39 overall record and a 10-20 mark in league action.
Wright State won the 2025 Horizon League regular season title with a league record of 25-5 to claim the No. 1 seed and serve as the host for the league tournament for the sixth straight season. Northern Kentucky finished 18-12 in league play to claim the No. 2 seed while Milwaukee went 16-13 to serve as the No. 3 seed. Purdue Fort Wayne posted a league record of 9-20 to slot in as the No. 6 seed.
Wright State and Northern Kentucky each earned a bye to the winner's bracket on Thursday as the tournament's top two seeds. Milwaukee and Purdue Fort Wayne will play in the opening game on Wednesday at 11 a.m. before YSU and Oakland face off at approximately 3 p.m. The losers of games one and two will play in an elimination game on Wednesday night at approximately 7 p.m.
Wright State will play the lowest seed of the first-day winners on Thursday at 11 a.m. while Northern Kentucky will face the highest winning seed at approximately 3 p.m.
