Spartanburg, S.C. – The Youngstown State softball team dropped a 5-2 decision to Towson to close out the 2025 Terrier Invite hosted by Wofford.
Sophomore Reese Campbell-Schaller and junior Bree Kohler each posted hits and drove in a run of the Penguins (0-5).
Youngstown State fell behind after the Tigers scored twice in the bottom of the second.
In the top of the fourth, Campbell-Schaller drove in pinch-runner Ellie Hardman on a bases-loaded fielder's choice to cut the lead in half.
Kohler's run-scoring double in the top of the fifth plated freshman Ayla Ray to knot the game at 2-2.
Towson, however, scored three times in the bottom of the sixth to seal the victory.
Youngstown State returns to action at the Winthrop Tournament, Feb. 21-23, in Rock Hill, S.C.
