Taylor Lietha Signs to Continue Bowling Career at Youngstown State

Youngstown, Ohio — Taylor Lietha has signed to continue her academic and bowling career at Youngstown State, YSU head coach Doug Kuberski announced on Monday.

Lietha, a native of Winona, Minn., is the second talented bowler to commit to the Penguins for the 2026 high school graduating class. She joins Malayna Calo, who YSU announced in November.

"Taylor is an incredible athlete and a fierce competitor who has excelled at the highest levels of youth bowling," Kuberski said. "She is also a student of the game who is constantly looking for ways to challenge herself and elevate her game. We are thrilled to welcome Taylor to our Penguin family."

Lietha was the 2023 Minnesota High School Bowling State Singles champion and the runner-up in 2024 as part an accomplished prep career. More recently, she was a first-team all-state selection in 2025 while helping Wabasha-Kellogg to the state title. For her career, she was a two-time first-team all-state selection, a second-team member at the state level, and a six-time all-conference pick.

Outside of the high school season, Lietha has been a two-time member of the Minnesota Junior Bowlers Tour (MJBT) All-Star Team, and she competed for the Lake Michigan Cup for Team Wisconsin. She is a three-time MJBT champion, a two-time Wisconsin Youth Bowlers Tour champion, and a champion and Rookie of the Year on the Junior Bowlers Scholarship Tour. She also finished 23rd at the 2025 Junior Gold Championships while qualifying for the Final Advancers round.

Lietha is a member of the Future Farmers of America and the Minnesota USBC Youth Committee. She plans on majoring in exercise science at Youngstown State.
