The Youngstown State football team will play host to Yale in the first round of the NCAA FCS Playoffs on Saturday, Nov. 29 at Stambaugh Stadium. Kickoff for the contest is set for noon as determined by the NCAA.

Youngstown State finished the season 8-4 overall while posting a 5-3 record in the Missouri Valley Football Conference. Yale is making its first-ever FCS playoff appearance as the champions of the Ivy League. The Bulldogs are 8-2 after going 6-1 in league play.

The Guins are seeded No. 15 in the tournament. The winner of the YSU-Yale game will face second-seed Montana State in the second round on Dec. 6.

The Penguins are making second postseason trip in the last three seasons. YSU reached the second round of the 2023 tournament after defeating Duquesne at home in the first round.

The MVFC had six teams in the field as North Dakota State, South Dakota, South Dakota State, Illinois State and North Dakota were all selected along with YSU.

The Guins are appearing in the FCS playoffs for the 14th time in school history.

One of the most successful FCS postseason programs, YSU is 30-9 all-time for a .769 winning percentage. The Guins won I-AA/FCS titles in 1997, 1994, 1993 and 1991. YSU also advanced to the title game in 2016, 1999 and 1992.

All tickets for the first-round game between the Penguins and Bulldogs can be purchased online via YSUsports.com. Tickets can be purchased starting at 2 p.m. today.

YSU season-ticket holders and Penguin Club members will be able to purchase their reserved seats through their Tickets.com YSU account.

The YSU Athletic Ticket Office will be open Monday-Wednesday (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Friday (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.) this week at Stambaugh Stadium. The University is closed for the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, but tickets will be available online that day.
