Youngstown State quarterback Beau Brungard (offense) and placekicker Andrew Lastovka (special teams) were named the Missouri Valley Football Conference's Players of the Week for their efforts in the victory over Indiana State this past Saturday.

Brungard accounted for six more touchdowns in guiding the Penguins to a 48-29 win over Indiana State. He had three rushing scores in the first quarter and a half before following that up with three touchdown passes. In the first half he had short runs of eight, one and one yard before throwing TD passes of 20, two and five. He completed 23-of-30 passes for 264 yards while rushing for 90 yards on 17 carries.

This season, Brungard has rushed for 1,235 yards on 203 carries and scored 21 touchdowns. His yardage total is 99 yards shy of the MVFC single-season record for rushing yards by a quarterback of 1,334 yards set by UNI's Aaron Bailey in 14 games in 2015.

Through the air, he has completed 234 of 343 passes for 2,691 yards and 21 touchdowns with just three interceptions.

On a windy afternoon, Lastovka accounted for 12 points in YSU's win over the Sycamores. He made two of three field goals converting from 39 and 42 yards and made six PATs. This season he is 15-of-19 on field goals and 46-of-47 on PAT kicks.

Other MVFC Players of the Week include LB Tye Niekamp of Illinois State (defense) and RB Carson Fletcher of South Dakota (newcomer).

The Penguins visit UNI this Saturday in the regular-season finale. Kickoff at the UNI-Dome is set for 2 pm Eastern time.
