Penguins Prepped to Begin Play at Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational on Monday

The Youngstown State men's golf team will return to fall competition on Monday when it begins play in the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational at Guyan Golf & Country Club in Huntington, W. Va.
The Penguins are coming off a seventh-place team finish in the season-opening Red Bandana Invitational hosted by Boston College on Sept. 1-2. YSU had two players finish in the top 25 of the individual standings as Ryan Sam tied for 14th with a three-round score of 225 (79-69-77) and Michael Porter tied for 21st with a three-round total of 228 (76-78-74).
The tournament field at the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational will feature 12 other schools including Belmont, Cleveland State, Dayton, Le Moyne, Longwood, Marshall (host), Morehead State, Murray State, Northern Kentucky, Ohio, Purdue Fort Wayne and Radford.
The teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday in the two-day, 54-hole event. Play is scheduled to begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. each day. The course will play approximately 6,523 yards and par is 71. Live scoring will be available via Scoreboard through links posted on YSUsports.com.
Head Coach Tony Joy has announced that YSU's five-player team lineup will feature Sam, Porter, Nolan Shilling, Jordan Kish and Ayden Richmond. In addition, Jake Ryan will be competing as an individual for the Penguins.
Kish, Porter, Ryan and Sam were each in the lineup at the season-opening Red Bandana Invitational while Richmond and Shilling will each be making their collegiate debut on Monday. Shilling is a redshirt freshman from Murrysville, Pa., while Richmond is a redshirt sophomore from Geneva, Ohio.
The Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational is named in honor of Joe Feaganes, who coached the Marshall men's golf team from 1972-2002.
