Members of the Youngstown State bowling program are continuing a newsworthy summer recently as incoming freshman Kara Beissel finished second at the 2024 Teen Masters, and rising senior Jade Cote is headed to South Korea with Team Canada.

Beissel Finishes at Runner-Up at Teen Masters

Kara Beissel, who will be a freshman on the 2024-25 Youngstown State bowling team, placed second at the 2024 Teen Masters Championships last week at Boardwalk Bowl in Orlando, Fla. Beissel qualified third for match play after three blocks of six games, and she moved up to second in match play. She was second in total pins, and she won seven head-to-head matches to collect 210 bonus pins. Bowlers at the Teen Masters are limited to using one SKILL 3.02 ball.

Cote in South Korea for IBF World Youth Championships

Jade Cote is currently in Incheon, South Korea, to compete at the 2024 IBF World Youth Championships for Team Canada. Singles play at the international competition will begin on Wednesday, and doubles and team formats will follow through July 18.

Cote was named the 2023-24 YSU Female Athlete of the Year as the Penguins advanced to the Final Four and finished the season ranked third in the country. A First-Team All-American by the National Tenpin Coaches Association, Cote has already earned two medals competing for Team Canada. She acquired a silver medal in trios at the 2023 IBF World Championships, and she earned a bronze in the same format at the 2023 Pan American Games.
