YSU Baseball to Hold Golf Extravaganza Featuring Andruw Jones on Aug. 12

The Youngstown State baseball program will be hosting a special Golf Extravaganza featuring five-time MLB All-Star Andruw Jones on Monday, Aug. 12, at The Lake Club in Poland, Ohio.
Two events will highlight Andruw Jones' visit to the Mahoning Valley. On Sunday, Aug. 11, all guests will have an exclusive opportunity to have dinner and a Q&A session with the Atlanta Braves Hall of Fame inductee at The Lake Club. The cost is $225 per guest, and spots are limited. There will be a cocktail hour with an open bar beginning at 5:30 p.m. before dinner and the Q&A session from 6:30-9 p.m. on Sunday.
The Golf Extravaganza event with Andruw Jones will begin with a shotgun start at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 12. Each golfer will receive food and drink on the course, a full dinner after golf and a door prize. In addition, food trucks will be on site and there will be games set up throughout the course.
Golf packages include the exclusive aforementioned opportunity to have dinner and a Q&A session with Atlanta Braves Hall of Fame inductee Andruw Jones on Sunday.
Registration ends on Aug. 1, and all proceeds will benefit the YSU baseball program.
Jones played 17 seasons in the MLB, most notably for the Atlanta Braves from 1996-2007. The native of Curaçao also played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Texas Rangers, Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees during his MLB career. He also played in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) for the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles. Jones was a heralded defensive specialist throughout his career, winning the Rawlings Gold Glove Award for outfielders each year from 1998 through 2007. He was selected as an MLB All-Star five times, and he won both the Hank Aaron Award and a Silver Slugger Award for outfielders in 2005.
Jones made his MLB debut with the Atlanta Braves during the 1996 season. In the 1996 World Series, he became the youngest player to hit a home run in the postseason, and just the second player to homer in his first two World Series at bats. The following season, Jones finished fifth in voting for the MLB's Rookie of the Year award. In 2005, he led the National League with 51 home runs and 128 RBIs while finishing second to Albert Pujols in voting for the National League's Most Valuable Player. Jones ended his MLB career with 434 home runs and 1,289 RBIs, and his 10 Gold Gloves put him in a tie for third for most Gold Gloves won by an outfielder. Jones was inducted into the Atlanta Braves Hall of Fame in 2016, and his uniform number, 25, was retired by the team on September 9, 2023.

Double ($3,000): Includes one foursome; hole sponsorship; on-course game sponsor; 4 autographed YSU baseballs; 4 Sunday dinners with Andruw Jones
Single ($2,000): Includes one foursome; 4 Sunday dinners with Andruw Jones
Golf Only ($1,400): Includes one foursome.
Hole Sponsors ($200): Name and/or logo will be displayed at a hole for participants to see.
