Cleveland, Ohio – Senior Sara Fessler's two-run home run in the top of the second inning broke a 2-2 tied and lifted the Youngstown State softball team to an 8-3 win over Cleveland State in game two of a doubleheader on Friday afternoon.
The Penguins dropped the opener, 3-1.
Youngstown State improves to 33-15 overall and 17-4 in Horizon League play while the Vikings fall to 16-22 overall and 12-9 in league play.
Lydia Wilkerson and Conchetta Rinaldi each had two hits to lead the Penguins offensively, while Sophie Howell fired her 22nd complete game of the year and picked up win No. 21 on the year.
Fessler, Jillian Jakse, and Ashlyn Bishop each drove in two runs.
