Guins Host Northern Kentucky, IUPUI to Close Out Home Season

The Youngstown State women's tennis team closes out its home season with matches against Northern Kentucky and IUPUI this weekend at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
Both contests will begin at 3 p.m. Prior to the match against the Jaguars on Sunday, YSU will honor seniors Eliska Masarikova and Maria Oliveira.
The Penguins are one of three teams in the Horizon League who are 2-1 entering the weekend. NKU is the lone remaining unbeaten team at 2-0 with wins over Oakland and IUPUI.
Last weekend the Guins picked up important wins at Chicago State and Milwaukee.
Following the two wins at No. 2 singles, Julia Marko was named the Horizon League's Singles Player of the Week. Marko is 3-0 in Horizon League singles play as is Yeseniia Ovcharova. Lili Minich is 2-1 in HL play so far.
Masarikova is a two-time All-Horizon League selection earning first-team accolades last year. She has won 50 career singles matches since joining the program in the fall of 2020. Oliveira has been a key part of the program as well winning 16 singles contests and 24 doubles matches during her career.
