Greenville, N.C. – The Youngstown State softball team dropped a pair of games on day one of the East Carolina Purple-Gold Invitational on Friday at Max R. Joiner Family Stadium.
The Penguins fell to St. Joseph's, 6-0, and to East Carolina, 9-3. With the setbacks, the Penguins fall to 7-5 on the season.
Freshman Lauryn Swanson went 2-for-3 with an RBI in the Penguins loss to the Pirates in game two. Ashlyn Bishop, Elyssa Imler, and Macy Littler each had hits while Imler and Littler also scored.
Against the Hawks, Jillian Jakse went 2-for-3 while Lydia Wilkerson and Hailey Niederkohr each tallied hits.
Youngstown State is scheduled to face Appalachian State on Saturday at 10 a.m. and East Carolina at 12:30 p.m.
