Clinton, S.C. – The Youngstown State softball team won for the seventh time in nine games after defeating Presbyterian, 8-4, on Saturday afternoon at the Pinnacle PC Invitational.
The Penguins fell to Morehead State, 4-2, in the first game, but improved to 7-2 on the year.
Against the Blue Hose, freshman Autumn Behlke struck out three and allowed just in 2.2 innings of scoreless relief to pick up her second win of the season.
Trailing 1-0, the Penguins tied the game on a run-scoring double by Jillian Jakse that scored Macy Littler in the top of the third.
Youngstown State took a 4-1 lead with a three-run fourth inning.
The Blue Hose rallied to knot the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Penguins answered with a four-run sixth inning keyed by a sacrifice fly by Sara Fessler and Conchetta Rinaldi's two-run double.
In the opener, Fessler went 3-for-4 and drove in both Penguins' runs.
Youngstown State closes out the tournament against Valparaiso on Sunday at 10 a.m.
