Youngstown, Ohio – Redshirt freshman Sara Felder scored for the third time this season, and classmate Maya Naimoli recorded her third career shutout as the Youngstown State women's soccer team defeated Wright State, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon at Farmers National Bank Field.
The Penguins improve to 4-7-2 overall and 2-3 in Horizon League play while the Raiders fall to 3-7-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the league.
Felder scored the game's only goal less than 15 minutes into the contest. Sophomore Eva Sunjevaric launched a pass deep into the Raiders end, and Felder beat the defense to the ball, made a quick change of direction and laced a right-footer into the top left of the net.
The Raiders were aggressive in the first half pepper Naimoli with 10 shots, but only one on goal.
In the second half, the Penguins limited the Raiders to just four total shots and posted seven shots after halftime.
Naimoli, who also faced 10 corner kicks, tallied six saves in the victory.
Youngstown State visits Milwaukee Thursday, Oct. 10. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. in Milwaukee, Wis.
