Moon Township, Pa. – The Youngstown State women's soccer team scored three second-half goals enroute to a 3-1 come-from-behind victory over Robert Morris Wednesday afternoon at the North Athletic Complex.
With the win, the Penguins finished the 2024 season with an overall record of 5-11-2 and a 3-7 mark in Horizon League play. The Colonials close out the regular season with a 5-6-6 overall mark and a 4-3-3 record in league play.
Junior Emma Rigone, graduate student Abby Knight, and junior Chloe Weiland scored the Penguins second-half goals in a span of 18 minutes.
Down 1-0 through the first 60 minutes of the game, Rigone knotted the game up at 1-1 at the 60:53 mark. Elis Klein Spindola found a trailing Rigone who drilled a one-timer into the top-left for the equalizer.
Sophia Blankenship lifted a corner kick into the right center of the box that ricocheted off a Colonial right to Knight's feet. Her right-footer slid into lower-left and gave the Penguins a 2-1 edge at the 73:00 mark.
Almost six minutes later, Kate Makkas sent a cross to the six and Weiland sent a left footer past the RMU goalkeeper for an insurance goal at the 78:57 mark.
