Youngstown State quarterback Beau Brungard was named the Missouri Valley Football Conference's Offensive Player of the Week and placekicker Andrew Lastovka was named the MVFC Special Teams Player of the Week following their performances in the 41-40 overtime win over North Dakota at Stambaugh Stadium.
Brungard helped engineer YSU's first win over a top-10 team for the second straight season with a four-touchdown performance against the Fighting Hawks. He rushed for 176 yards on 18 carries and had three scores while passing for another in the 41-40 overtime win. He scored on runs of 2, 13 and 28 yards and passed for a seven-yard touchdown.
During the game, he set the school record for single-season rushing yards by a QB with 777 yards on 109 carries and now has 11 TDs through nine games.
It is the second time this season Brungard has been named the MVFC's Offensive Player of the Week. He was honored in September following a three-TD effort vs. Valparaiso.
Lastovka kicked field goals of 34 and 35 yards and made five extra points in the 41-40 upset win. His 35-yard kick tie the contest at 34 with 12 seconds left. His final extra point of the evening was the difference in the contest.
Indiana State's Geoffrey Brown was named the MVFC Defensive Player of the Week and NDSU's CharMar Brown was selected as the Newcomer of the Week.
The Penguins face 19th-ranked Illinois State this Saturday in Normal, Ill.
