Bowling Slides to Seventh After Traditional Play at Destination Orlando

Orlando, Fla. – Youngstown State's bowling team dropped four close matches on Saturday and is seventh in the overall standings after 10 games of qualifying at the Destination Orlando event at AMF Sky Lanes.

YSU began the day in fourth, and it averaged 194.6 per game on Saturday as it dropped three spots in the standings. The Penguins have one more game of qualifying on Sunday morning before the best-of-seven Baker bracket begins.

Youngstown State beat No. 10 Duquesne 908-859 on a low-scoring pair to begin the traditional round, but they dropped their next four matches by a combined 52 pins. The first was a one-pin, 931-930 decision to Alabama A&M, and a high-scoring 1,139-1,114 loss to No. 5 Nebraska followed. YSU fell 970-950 to UAB in its fourth match, and a six-pin, 969-963 loss to No. 12 Mount St. Mary's concluded the round.

Ellie Drescher was Youngstown State's top finisher in 28th place with a 1,016 set. The junior fired a career-best 259 in the match against Nebraska. Kirsten Moore and Jade Cote shot 975 and 972, respectively, and Amanda Granta had a 947 set. Kara Beissel averaged 201 in her three games, and Madison Doseck and Lyndsay Ennis each bowled in one game.

Youngstown State's action on Sunday will begin against Bryant at 8:25 a.m.
