Youngstown State junior Jade Cote will once again be a member of Team Canada in 2024 after an impressive performance at the Canadian Team Trials.
Cote earned a spot on both Team Canada and Youth Team Canada by finishing fifth overall and second among junior team competitors. The native of Farnham, Quebec, was a member of Team Canada in 2023.
Cote averaged 198.83 in the first shift, and she was in second place after the second shift by averaging 200.83 in that six-game block. Her totals were lower over the next three shifts, but her great start allowed her to stay above the cut line, and her total through 30 games was 5,715. That was fifth overall, and it was second among youth bowlers.
In the final six-game block, Cote bowled a 202 in her fifth game and a 257 in game six. The 257 was the highest by any bowler in the shift.
In 2023, Cote bowled for the 2023 Canadian National Team at the IBF World Championships in October and the Youth Pan American Championships in August. She earned a silver medal in the trios format at the World Championships in Kuwait, and she earned a bronze in the same format at the Youth Pan American Championship in Peru.
Cote will rejoin the Penguins as they begin their spring semester schedule this Friday at the Northeast Classic.
