YSU Makes Lone Horizon League Road Trip This Weekend

The Youngstown State women's tennis team plays their only two Horizon League road matches of the season this weekend at Northern Kentucky and IUPUI.
The Guins (6-8 overall and 3-0 in the Horizon League) face the Norse at 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Five Seasons Sports Club in Crestview Hills, Ky., and on Sunday venture to Indianapolis to take on IUPUI at 11 a.m. at the IUPUI Tennis Courts.
NKU enters this weekend with a 9-5 overall record and is 2-0 in Horizon League play with wins over IUPUI and Oakland. This is their first home contest since March 3. IUPUI owns a 8-12 overall record and is 0-2 in league play with defeats to the Norse and Golden Grizzlies.
The Penguins had a strong performance last week beating Chicago State and Milwaukee at home to remain unbeaten in league play while extending their winning streak to four matches.
Three Guins are on three-match winning streaks entering this weekend's bouts. Cecilia Rosas has won four straight singles matches while Julia Marko and Eliska Masarkiova have won three straight contests. So far in Horizon League play, YSU is 15-3 in singles tilts. In doubles, they own a 5-2 record in completed contests.
In doubles, Eliska Masarikova and Elisa Rigazio have teamed up to go 3-0 in league play so far. The duo was named the Horizon League's Women's Doubles Athletes of the Week this past week.
