Penguins Face Cougars In League Match For First Time Since 2001

The Youngstown State men's tennis team heads to Chicago State on Sunday afternoon for their first Horizon League contest against the Cougars. First serve is set for 1 p.m. Eastern time/Noon Central time. The match is scheduled to be played at Prairie State College (202 S. Halsted Street, Chicago Heights). If there is inclement weather, the match or matches will be moved indoors to the H-F Racquet & Fitness Club in Homewood, Ill. (2920 183rd St.).
The Guins (8-8 overall and 2-0 in the Horizon League) opened up conference play with strong victories over Northern Kentucky and IUPUI. The Penguins beat the Norse 4-3 on Saturday before ousting IUPUI on Sunday, 5-2.
Winning singles contests in each match were Nathan Favier and Javi Gonzalez Pla. In doubles play, David Alvarez Moreno and Will Everett led the Guins with two victories.
This is YSU's first contest against the Cougars since Feb. 17, 2013. YSU leads the all-time series against CSU by a 6-3 record. The Guins last played a conference game against the Cougars when both were in the Summit League on April 20, 2001.
