Penguins Cap Off Impressive Weekend Beating IUPUI

The Youngstown State men's tennis team defeated IUPUI, 5-2, on Sunday at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center. The Penguins won the doubles point and earned four singles wins in straight sets against the Jaguars.
YSU (8-8 overall and 2-0 in the Horizon League) won two of three doubles contests against the Jaguars (5-16 and 1-2).
At No. 1 doubles, Clement Mainguy and Nathan Favier won their contest 6-3 while at No. 2 David Alvarez Moreno and Will Everett clinched the point with a 7-5 victory.
In singles play, the Guins won the first four completed singles contests.
At No. 5 singles, Javi Gonzalez Pla won his match in 71 minutes by a score of 6-0, 6-2. At No. 2 singles, Mainguy won his contest by a score of 6-4, 6-1. The Guins clinched win at No. 6 as Moreno won his match 6-4, 6-2. Favier closed out the singles wins for YSU with a 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles.
Pla and Favier both picked up a pair of victories this past weekend.
The Penguins return to action next Sunday when they visit Chicago State. It's the first conference match against the Cougars for YSU.
