Indianapolis, Ind. - Miriam Frass and Aleksa Radenovic each picked up their second podium finishes on the third day of the Horizon League Championships at the IU Natatorium.
Frass clocked an impressive time of 1:50.82 in the women's 200 free to finish third after finishing second in the 500 free yesterday. Radenovic's podium finish came in the men's 100 fly as he clocked a 47.29 to finish third, adding to his third-place finish in the 200 IM yesterday.
Women's Results
Chiara Vetter rounded out the top five in the 100 breast, clocking a 1:04.29. Oliwia Kaniak won the consolation final in the event with a time of 1:05.56 for a ninth-place overall finish. Gwyn Thomas placed 12th with a time of 1:06.52.
Four Guins advanced to the consolation finals in the 100 back. Anna Kozinska won the B final with a time of 56.97, the third-fastest time in YSU history, for a ninth-place overall finish. Isabelle Hanson finished 12th with a time of 58.73 while Jordan Truelsch was just behind clocking a 58.93 for 13th. Hannah Olger finished 15th with a time of 59.19.
Macy Wang finished eighth in the 400 IM, clocking a 4:40.49. Hilda Baldursdottir was 15th with a time of 4:40.49.
Brooke Schuette clocked a 1:53.15 to pick up an 11th-place finish in the 200 free while Aubrey Whitaker was 16th, swimming a time of 1:57.68.
Freshman Allison Ramirez Romero earned a 12th-place overall finish in the 100 fly with a time of 56.93.
The women finished the day with a fifth-place finish in the 400 medley relay. The squad of Kozinska, Vetter, Ramirez Romero, and Frass clocked a 3:49.95, their best time this season.
After three days of competition, the Guins remain at fourth in the team standings with 272 points, ahead of Cleveland State and Green Bay
Men's Results
Five men advanced to the finals/consolation finals in the 400 IM. Gavin Webb rounded out the top five with a time of 3:54.90. Dominic Bono clocked a 3:59.63 for an eighth-place finish. Crispy Barton was 10th with a time of 3:56.54 while Brenden Reeves swam a 4:01.41 for 15th.
Four Penguin freshmen advanced to the finals/consolation finals in the 100 breast. They were led by James Slessor, who clocked a school-record time of 54.59 to break his previous record set in the prelims and finish sixth in the event. Moritz Bayer, Dominic Panozzo, and Seth Thomas each advanced to the consolation finals. Bayer finished 12th clocking a 56.98 while Panozzo and Thomas finished back-to-back at 14th and 15th, respectively, with times of 57.24 and 57.37.
Wilson Cannon won the consolation final of the 100 fly with a time of 48.48 for a ninth-place overall finish. Gavin Redden finished 15th overall with a time of 49.20.
Soma Albert finished 12th in the 100 back with a time of 49.94. Karan Raju earned a 14th-place finish in the 200 free, clocking a 1:41.72.
To finish off the day, the men delivered a school-record time of 3:16.32 in the 400 medley relay to place fourth. Albert, Slessor, Radenovic, and Redden were on the record-breaking squad.
Following the third day of action, the men are in fourth-place overall with 275 points, sitting ahead of Milwaukee and Green Bay.
Tomorrow's action will begin with swimming prelims at 10 a.m. Events set to take place are the 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, women's three-meter dive, and 400 free relay.
