Indianapolis, Ind. - Miriam Frass, Gavin Webb, and Aleksa Radenovic each earned spots on the podium as the Youngstown State men's and women's swimming diving programs concluded a successful second day of competition at the Horizon League Championships at the IU Natatorium.
Podium Finishes
Frass became the first YSU woman since 2018 to finish runner-up in an event at the Horizon League Championships. She clocked a personal-best time of 4:53.48 in the 500 free which was less than half a second away from the school record.
Webb broke his own school record in the 500 free with a time of 4:25.77 to finish third at the meet.
Radenovic also found the podium with a third-place finish in the 200 IM. He clocked a 1:47.23 to break his own school record set in the prelims by almost a second.
Women's Results
Kayla Wrasman earned a seventh-place finish in the women's one-meter dive with a score of 236.65. Dasha Toth and Tess Weiskopf finished 13th and 14th, respectively, with scores of 204.75 and 202.60.
Hailey Clark won the women's 500 free consolation finals with a time of 4:58.44 to finish ninth overall. Brooke Schuette earned a 13th-place overall finish, swimming a time of 5:04.15.
Oliwia Kaniak clocked a 2:07.68 in the 200 IM to finish 11th while Macy Wang swam a time of 2:07.98 to place 13th.
The Guins had three women compete in the consolation finals of the 50 free: Aubrey Whitaker, Madelyn Mahoney, and Hannah Olger. Whitaker clocked a 24.33 for a 13th-place finish overall. Mahoney was just behind in 14th, clocking a 24.34. Olger finished 16th with a time of 24.47.
To finish off the day, the Guins' 200 free relay squad of Frass, Olger, Whitaker, and Mahoney clocked a 1:36.90 for a fifth-place finish.
After two days of competition, the Penguin women sit in fourth-place with 155 points, ahead of Cleveland State and Green Bay.
Men's Results
In the 200 IM, James Slessor finished 11th overall with a time of 1:50.70. Christian Taylor clocked a 4:35.38 in the 500 free to finish 15th.
Wilson Cannon and Rares Druga finished back-to-back in the consolation finals of the 50 free. Cannon clocked a 20.81 for a 13th-place overall finish while Druga placed 14th with a time of 20.86.
In the men's 200 free relay, the team of Druga, Darren Laing, Gavin Redden, and Cannon swam a time of 1:22.69 to finish sixth.
The men are currently in fourth place in the team standings with 142 points, ahead of Milwaukee and Green Bay.
Tomorrow's action will resume with swimming prelims at 10 a.m. Â Events scheduled to take place are the 100 fly, 400 IM, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, men's one-meter dive, and the 400 medley relay.
