Metzler, Parker Earn College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Honors

Youngstown State offensive lineman David Metzler and Aidan Parker have been named to the 2023 Academic All-District® Football teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, for their combined performance on the football field and in the classroom.
Metzler was an first-team Academic All-Missouri Valley Football Conference selection this fall. He started all 13 games at left guard and has started 41 games on the offensive line during career, including 30 straight contests. In 2023, he played every snap in eight games. Metzler played left tackle in 2021 (spring and fall) and 2022 before moving to guard in 2023.
Parker was an honorable-mention Academic All-MVFC selection this fall. Park started 11 of 13 games at center in 2023. He has started 38 games on the offensive line during his YSU career. In 2023, he played every snap in seven games. Heplayed guard in 2021 (spring and fall) and 2022 before assuming duties as center in 2023.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced Jan. 23, 2024.
