Penguins Set to Visit Cleveland State for Dual Meet

The Youngstown State men's and women's swimming and diving programs will make the short trip up north on Saturday to face Horizon League opponent Cleveland State at the Busbey Natatorium.
The meet is set to begin at 11 a.m. in Cleveland, Ohio.
Previewing the Competition
Cleveland State competed against a pair of Horizon League teams this past weekend. The Viking women were defeated by IUPUI and Milwaukee while CSU men's team was defeated by IUPUI but earned a meet victory over Milwaukee.
At the 2022-23 Horizon League Championships, the YSU women, who placed fourth in team standings, finished ahead of the Vikings in fifth. On the men's side, the Vikings finished third while the Penguins were fourth overall.
The Penguins and Vikings last dueled on Nov. 5, 2022 at the Beeghly Natatorium. Youngstown State earned victories on both sides of the action with the women earning a 199-94 victory and the men defeating CSU 167-127.
Last Time Out
The Penguins faced Niagara and St. Francis at the Beeghly Natatorium on Sunday.
The men's program earned a victory over Niagara by a 170-92 margin while the women were defeated 166-96 by Niagara and 165.60-96.50 by St. Francis.
Aleksa Radenovic earned three individual victories: 100 butterfly, 200 butterfly, and 200 IM. He was also a member of the winning 200 medley relay team with teammates Soma Albert, James Slessor, and Gavin Redden. Albert and Gavin Webb each picked up a pair of individual event victories as Albert swept the 100 and 200 backstroke events while Webb won both the 500 and 1000 distance freestyle events. In addition, Redden picked up a victory in the 100 free. The Penguins also won the 500 free relay as the squad of Rares Druga, Kyle Mizell, Jasper Liekens, and Redden touched first.
On the women's side, Miriam Frass won both the 200 and 1000 freestyle while also finishing second in the 500 free. Allison Ramirez Romero picked up a second-place finish in the 100 fly while Oliwia Kaniak finished third in the 100 and 200 breast. Madelyn Mahoney also placed third in two events, the 50 and 100 free, while Clark finished third in the 1000 free.

The Penguins' diving team will compete at the West Virginia Invite in Morgantown W.Va. on Nov. 16-Nov. 18.
The swimmers and divers will be back in action together at the Miami (OH) Invite from Nov. 30-Dec. 2 at the Nixon Aquatic Center in Oxford, Ohio.
