Hunter Christopher and Morgan Cole of the Youngstown State men's and women's cross country programs were named Under Armour HLXC Runners of the Week following their impressive performances at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational, the Horizon League announced Tuesday.

Christopher, a senior from Salem, Ohio, clocked a 5-mile school-record time of 23:50.5 in the Blue Race at Notre Dame. He became the first Penguin in program history to run sub-24 minutes in the 5-mile race by breaking the previous school record of 24:13 by over 22 seconds.

Christopher finished 14th in the Blue Race against a loaded field of 147 runners from numerous nationally ranked teams including Notre Dame (#9), NC State (#21), Alabama (#27), and Montana State (#28). His impressive finish helped the Penguins to a 16th-place team finish in the highly competitive field of teams.

Cole, a graduate student from Lousiville, Ohio, clocked an impressive 5k time of 17:09.5 in the Gold Race at Notre Dame She finished fourth out of 161 runners in the Gold Race, ahead of all other Horizon League competitors. Her career-best Gold Race finish helped the Penguins to a 13th-place overall team finish.

The Penguins will be next in action at the Bill Lennox Slippery Rock Invitational on Saturday at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds in New Castle, Pa. The women's 6k is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. following by the men's 8k at 11:15 a.m.
